Patch of Light
Humanity - this endless curiosity, this stubborn refusal to stay in the dark. It is what we are made of.
We humans are like curious children holding tiny torches, occupying a patch of light in a great darkness of ignorance, standing guard over our own little circle of understanding.
Each of us belongs to a field of study - science, philosophy, art, mathematics, etc, … all standing at the edge of this circle, peeking into the unknown. We are armed with different tools, like, computers, telescopes, cameras, microscopes, paintbrushes, pens, pencils, or simply questions that start with "why" or "what if."
Sometimes we bump into each other, arguing about whose light shines brightest. But the real beautiful thing happens when we combine our lights, when a scientific discovery sparks a poet's imagination, or when a philosopher's question leads to a scientist's breakthrough. Each small discovery pushes back the darkness just a little bit, like adding another string of lights to our circle of understanding. With this our circle of light keeps growing, but so does the circumference of darkness around it.
